ETHICAL PRACTICE

Ethical Framework for Good Practice

Glister Counselling ensures that all clients are entitled to high standards of practice and care from their counsellor. A good standard of care requires outstanding professional competence, which is achieved by committing to and observing professional ethics. Glister works in accordance with the Codes of Practice of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. The BACP ethical framework can be viewed HERE.

Respecting human rights and Dignity

Glister Counselling upholds a client’s right to be treated with respect at all times and in ways that meet their particular needs. Counselling is therefore provided regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability or age.

Confidentiality

Any information that you disclose to your counsellor during your sessions is kept confidential unless you give your consent for this information to be shared with a third party. There is one exception to this: if information relating to the risk of potential harm or actual harm to yourself or others is disclosed, further support may be required. Where possible, every effort will be made to involve clients in the safeguarding process.
